about

The third single from The Smokin' Elmores, this rock ballad paints a picture of what it can be like to try and juggle a FIFO mining career with a family life far away. There will not be many miners who have not experienced, in some shape or form, Miners Blues.

Drawing on first hand experience, Miners Blues is sure to resonate with any person working in mines, either past or present, and may bring sombre awareness to those who have not been closely involved with the industry.

While for some, mining careers can result in fast cars, fancy houses & elite education for their children ... for others, the money may disappear, and the job may end without warning. They may lose their connection to their family back home, and feel they've lost everything. It is a difficult work-life balance to achieve, but can be very rewarding.

"It's hard to explain how painfully rewarding it was to survive it."
- Jamie Crawford (drums)

Lyrics:

Packin’ up his bags again
Kissed her on the cheek
Swapped out his shoes for his boots
He’ll be gone for three weeks

Touches down in a town full of flies
Where the dust storms rage in the skies
His next swing can’t come too soon
He got the miners blues

Oh mining town
Sharing that fever around
Waiting for you to lose
That's the miners blues

Packin’ up his bags again
He’s headin’ home
Hasn’t heard from her this swing
The miners blues settle in

Oh mining town
Sharing that fever around
Waiting for you to lose
That’s the miners blues
Oh down on his luck
She took his house and took his love
Now that he’s all alone
That mining towns become his home
He’s lost all he can lose

Oh mining town
Sharing that fever around
Waiting for you to lose
That’s the miners blues
Oh mining down
Sharing that fever around
Waiting for you to lose
That’s the miners blues
